hi all, my name is James Champion 49 yrs old currently living in Florida. i have been a driver for 30 yrs. like most of you here I was a truck modeler many years ago. now I am getting back into it. My first project back is a GMC 9500 long nose kit from AITM. I am building this to resemble the first truck I drove . A single axle florida rock hauler from 1978. My only problem is I lack the fine details skills that most of you have my trucks look good from a distance but up close yikes! As soon as i can figure out how to post pictures I will put some up. Hey James! It's great to have you here! We're glad you decided to join our growing family and we look forward to getting to know you better in the future. Please don't be intimidated by the fine detail work you see here either. Not everyone builds to that extreme, myself included, at least not yet. Work at your pace and build in your comfort zone and at your level. Noone will think any less of your work just because not every vacuum line or air hose is not represented in your builds. Please feel free to jump right in and post your questions, ideas, tips, techniques and work. We'd love to see it! We have the best bunch of commercial modelers assembled anywhere here and you'll fir in great, no doubt. Where abouts in FLroida are you located? I used to live in Penasacola, Fort Walton Beach, Navarre Beach, Ocala and Daytona. I miss Flroida and hopefully someday, if ic an convince my wife, we'll move back there permanantly. Again, welcome to "The Truckstop"!

It took me a couple of attempts to get the photo posting sorted out too and so have others. Read the photo posting tutorial and it will be a breeze. You got to multi-task a lil bit but it is simple. A.I.T.M., Dave makes some awesome resin kits. I too have one of his that I have been working on for a while. Welcome to The Truck Stop!

Welcome to the forum James. First off since were in about the same age bracket pick up an optivisor. This will make the parts easier to see plus believe it or not this will improve your modeling. Next up would be to invest in a polishing kit. With practice at polishing out the paint you will be able to produce show room finishes when you want them. Also as Brian stated you don't have to put every little line or hose on them in the proper place. No one really notices them anyways unless your a truck modeler or know trucks. Case in point; this past weekend I entered a contest. I took my flamed Pete and my detailed W900 wrecker which has been detailed to the max and kit errors corrected using documentation from the manufacturer. The cool paint job won over the detail. But anyways just take your time and keep adding more details as you become more comfortable with your builds and you will get to the level some of our other builders are at. Again welcome to the group.
